My TV style loves

As you can tell from my two previous posts, I am currently in a 80s/90s vintage stage. Womp*
I have been watching a lot of old television shows and frankly it has my mouth watering to visit vintage stores and get More MORE MOREEE vintage cut jackets with shoulder pads! I see it on tv and I want it...Lawd let this phase pass...but while its here...I shall indulge hehe.

It SUCKS that apart from Annie Cream cheese in Georgetown I am unaware of any other accessible vintage stores in DC.
I lived in Silver Spring for quite a while so I am majorly familiar with stores around that area.
But Va to Silver spring is a DRAG!

Tomorrow I am going item hunting sigh and I hope I am lucky! (I better be after the long frigging journey)

There is nothing like finding what you like and it costs close to NOTHING...
*drumroll*
"AND THAT MY FRIEND'S IS WHY I LOVE VINTAGE SHOPPING"

You could find clothes cut exactly right, which fit perfectly and are cheap as hell! I have had the most awesome finds, for almost nothing and its just wonderful.

It kinda spoils regular shopping for you though. You see the most raggedy looking average blouse at a regular store, and it costs eighty something dollars, while a very tailored, 70s gold lame gorgeous pantsuit at a vintage store is like 20 bucks. And you are like ????
.
All the vintage imitation clothes you find in Urban Outfitters are like almost 3 times the price of what I find in vintage stores. O_0

Anyway these are some of the ladies on TV who are feeding the flames of this phase!

Lets start with my darling

Claire Huxtable.

Aint she purty?
With her gorgeous jackets, brooches, and coiffed hair. She made the 80s black mom look SO good. There was this sweet heart shaped silver dress she wore on her birthday in one of the episodes, I almost DIED when she came on the screen. Love her!

Next we have Denise Huxtable!
With her bold rebellious style, an antithesis to her mom's more polished look. I loved her harem pants and military jackets and her cool ass hair cut and then her dreads! Her boots, Her everything..She had style!! Love her.

Hilary Banks!
Hahaha I loved her lil suits and her hats.
My older sisters actually went through an intense Hilary banks stage where they copied ALL the suits she had and sent em to my mom's tailors (It was that serious)

Vivian Banks!
The funny thing about this gorgeous lady is when i was like really young watching the fresh prince, I never thought she was cute! But watching old episodes as an adult, I found her REALLY gorgeous! her skin, her coiffed hair dos, lovely.
She did the 90s black Mom proud, I preferred HER SO MUCH MORE than the new lady who came on, Bah! I loved her little mini's and printed blouses. She was fab.

Whitley Gilbert!
Helllloooo *whitley voice* LOL . Coiffed hair, gorgeous suits, fur, brooches, the works. I always loved how put together she was. I really fancied her wardrobe! And her room, I always dreamt of having a room like hers when I was a kid, with the fancy phone hehe.

And last but certainly not the least LOL

Fran Fine!!
haaahaaaa *fran Laugh*
Seriously I KNOW she was supposed to be tacky as hell with her leopard print, sequins, colorful suits, and minis, her wardrobe was RIDICULOUS on the show, but I LOVED IT, sue me, that woman wore the HELL out of her tacky ass clothes. I would love to shop in the costume department of the nanny, that would be a FUN experience for this gal!

Join in!!
Who else would you guys add to the list?
The Stylish women of the 80s and 90s!!

Kisses!!
Cookie.

There's another vintage store in Georgetown, really close to Annie's.
What i used to do was search for thrift stores on yelp, they even had reviews and directions and everything.

Oh and i can definitely attest to how thrift shopping spoils you. You're hardly able to look at regularly priced store clothes the same.

You should go to the Value Village's/Unique's Thrift Stores. There is one on 450 near the Walmart, one in College Park, Wheaton (that's a massive one) and one in Randolph. Not to mention the Mustard Seed in Bethesda. You are making me miss DMV shopping....sigh. I loved TLC and Toni Braxton's style in the 90's along with Mariah Carey and we can't forget 702, Total and SWV....off to make a yet another 90's play list!
