This week, I decided to visit my favorite vintage shops in honor of the awesome weather we have been experiencing in the DMV!
My first stop on my shopping expedition was Polly Sue's, one of my favorite vintage shops in the city!
It is a delightful little shop located in downtown Takoma Park, a little ways from the Takoma Park metro station.
Polly Sue's carries beautifully crafted merchandise from the 1940s and 1950s, I am talking delicate hand gloves, lady like beaded purses, authentic collectible dresses, cloche hats, faux fur jackets & stoles, and gorgeous hand made jewelry.
They also have really cool merchandise from the 70s and 80s!
I am particularly obsessed with their 80s prom dresses collection, I have always wanted to attend an 80s prom party in a dress with a sweetheart bodice and an obnoxious ball gown skirt with yards and yards of tulle, and Polly Sue's definitely has that in bulk!
The overall set up of the store takes you to a time before, 1940/50s music fills the air from a jukebox giving you a nostalgic feeling as you shop.
It is definitely a great vintage shop to visit!
I picked out a couple of items to try on!
It was quite pretty on the hanger, didn't really fancy it on me!
I loved the color of this dress, it is from the 70s, it is very simple and I liked it, bought it!
This sweater was a must have for me, it is so soft and ladylike, and I loved its gorgeous buttons sigh..
This dress had some potential but I wasn't big on something about the prints.
I actually really liked this dress, the back had the TINIEST most delicate buttons which closed at the neck and at the waist, totally baring the back, and it fell in such a soft diaphanous way, it had to come home too!
How I would wear it: I would belt it with a thin gold chain, pair it with delicate strappy heels and add some great earrings & voila!
Next city on my thrifting adventures is BETHESDA!!!
There are some really cool thrift stores located around Wisconsin avenue.
I can't wait to see what I find!
What do you guys think about the Polly Sue's and my buys?! Should I have gotten the print dress? Was I right that long gray dress wasn't that great on me?
Drop a comment and let me know!

I think the grey dress actually looked good on you. It's a simple dress though so would have needed a lot of accessories to work.
The grey dress looked great on you....and the print dress too...

Absolutely *love* the gold and black dress (third picture down)... it's stunning!
the final dress looks amazing as well, especially on you - I'm very jealous! x
That store is amazing and that grey dress looked fabulous on you!!
Go back for the print dress it has a lot of potential. you can either dress it up or down and in my opinion can be worn in all seasons with boots for fall and winter, sandals and pumps in spring and summer, accessorize with hats , fur stoles gosh I love it but thats my opinion though.
Great buys all around and you are beautiful :)
Thanks for the comments guys!!
The grey dress really? I thought it was a bit ill fitting on me, but it is definitely a very pretty dress!
It is such a great store, if you are in the area you should definitely check it out!
Ms Zee thanks for the ways to rock the print dress, I squealed when I saw it but when I put it on, I wasn't sure if the prints really "worked", but yall are making me want to go back to the store and pick those items up! LOL
Just so you know right after your visit the basement of the store got a new look! We moved menswear and sale stuff upstairs and I took over the downstairs space, bringing in loads of cute vintage daywear. You should stop by again sometime soon to check out the new stuff!
Omg Nona, planning a visit as soon as I can! I cannot wait to see the new items in store! :D
